When BMW unleashed the latest version of the X5, they upped the ante with the xDrive50e, boasting a massive power increase to 483 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, along with a substantial enhancement in the battery pack's capacity now standing at 25.7 kWh for the plug-in hybrid luxury SUV.
A recent real-world test showcased the exceptional capabilities of the BMW X5 xDrive50e in city driving with its combustion engine switched off. Despite a WLTP electric range of 94 to 110 kilometers, this electrified SUV astoundingly covered 121.4 kilometers seamlessly without gasoline consumption, surpassing official estimates.
The test footage captured the X5 maneuvering through urban traffic, tackling various stop-and-go scenarios, and cruising at speeds exceeding 100 km/h on open roads. Despite its weight of 2,420 kilograms, the xDrive50e achieved an average consumption of 21.4 kWh per 100 kilometers, emphasizing the importance of regular battery charging for optimum efficiency.
